Roof constructions require hardwood that is at the same time sufficiently resistant to bending. Chestnuts are perfectly suited to these characteristics: it is not surprising, therefore, that they are among the most popular materials in the production of roofs and canopies.

Building a chestnut roof with a low level of humidity means minimising the risk of mould penetrating. A chestnut roof requires very little ordinary and extraordinary maintenance because it does not rust, discolor or corrode. The resistance of this wood to wear and tear and to atmospheric agents should not be underestimated, a factor that makes it possible to use it outdoors. As a result, the chestnut wood roofs provide the house with long-term protection.
